Digicel activates Business Continuity Plan, advocates Prevention Starts with You

Digicel Tonga CEO, Anthony Seuseu, said; “Digicel understands the importance of keeping our customers, businesses and loved ones connected during this difficult time and have activated our business continuity plan to ensure there is no disruption during this period. Our employees and customers remain our top priority.”

Seuseu said the company’s Covid Management Committee has been meeting and planning for various possibilities surrounding the COVID-19 positive case at the border.

Digicel Tonga sponsors communication devices for Tonga Red Cross Society

Tonga Red Cross Society aims to prevent and alleviate human suffering in Tonga, focusing on disaster management, persons with disabilities, health promotion and humanitarian laws and values. It supports communities throughout Tongatapu, Ha’apai, Vava’u, 'Eua and Niua’s.

To help TRCS work better for the communities, Digicel sponsors mobile internet devices so staff can respond to urgent requests from communities. This is especially important due to the cyclone season, which starts in October and runs through to May next year.

Digicel Tonga helps paint therapy hall at Mango Tree Centre

The disabled children in Tonga are “Hidden treasures.” The Mango Tree Centre was established to serve people with disabilities. 

 Over an 8 year period Digicel has continued to support Mango Tree every year and are always proud to offer support with different services.

 “Digicel staff came and painted our therapy hall. It was dirty before and now it is very clean. We are very thankful as it provides us a very fresh and clean environment for the children with special needs.” said In-Kwon Kim, Director of Mango Tree Centre. Digicel supports Tonga Animal Welfare Marathon

The Tonga Marathon is a fundraising event that was launched in 2020 in support of the newly formed Tonga Animal Welfare Society (TAWS) with Zoe Stephens leading the 42km coast to coast run across the island of Tongatapu.

Stephens thanked Digicel for its continuous support for two years now since the marathon fundraising event was launched last year, which attracted many local participants and are expecting more runners this year.

Joey Mataele, Director for the Miss Galaxy Pageant, said the Tonga Leitis Association (TLA) is always grateful to receive the continuous and generous support from Digicel.

Mataele said this year’s theme ‘I can. You can. We can stop all forms of violence in Tonga’ raises a critical issue that Tonga must continue to address. The recent tragic loss of the President for the TLA was a direct result of unchecked violence that must be curbed.  

Digicel supports Langafonua ‘a Fafine Tonga Exhibition

Lavinia Fakatoufifita, Deputy Chairperson for the Langafonua ‘a Fafine Tonga (the National Women Council of Tonga) received the support from Siosifa Pomana, Digicel Tonga Marketing Manager.

Fakatoufifita said that the Council is quite pleased with the support Digicel has shown in not just providing the venue at the Digicel Square but also the contribution to the prizes that will be awarded to the local artists showcasing their products and who are also competitors on the six categories for the event ranging from sewing to cooking in addition to the handicrafts.

Digicel Heilala Festival Float Parade wins prize

The event was hosted by the Ministry of Tourism.

Digicel’s colourful convoy of branded vehicles with staff and their children dressed in bright red was tied in second place with the Ministry of Revenue & Customs to win $1,500 cash.

Digicel’s float trailer displayed its latest prize offered to its loyal customers, a Mazda BT50 4WD, to be won during its current 3-month campaign titled ‘Everything is Better Together With Digicel’.

Digicel joins One Tonga glorifying God in song

Digicel’s support for both the One Tonga Choral Night and Kids Fit valued at $4,000 was presented to Robina Nakao CEO for Fexco Tonga at the Digicel flagship store.

This was the first time for Digicel to support both events for which. Ms Nakao thanked Digicel. Fexco Tonga and Western Union are the major sponsors and host for both events.

The Kids Fit event will be held on Saturday 10th of July.
