Taylor, 30, joins the Salford Red Devils after being released by NRL club Wests Tigers at the end of the 2020 season.

The former Warriors favourite said he had “spoken to a few of the players who I know, and Salford sounds like a great club”.

“I’m looking forward to the opportunity of playing at Salford, ripping into training and living over there.

“I’ve been following Salford over the last two years and have always wanted to play in the Super League at some stage. Speaking with Rich [coach Richard Marshall], I’m excited about playing for the club.”

There was speculation in the past fortnight the 27-year-old would knock back an option for another season with the joint venture and head home to join the Warriors in 2018.

Taylor has been a shining light for the Wests Tigers since joining the club from Penrith in 2016, averaging more than 41 tackles per game and enhancing his ability in attack under former coach Jason Taylor. 

Speaking to NRL.com prior to the side's first bye week, Taylor set the record straight on his immediate and long-term future. 

Named at lock, Taylor shifted to hooker in the second half when Matt Ballin (concussion) was ruled out of the game and certainly made an impact.

Taylor set up two of the Tigers' three tries including Luke Brooks' match-winner in the 69th minute – earning the team's Players' Player as a result in just his second game with the club. 

As veteran utility Dene Halatau reaches the twilight of his career – a player who the Tigers have depended on for the most part since 2003 – they will certainly find comfort in Taylor's arrival following his show-stealing performance.
