Tonga joins call for Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty

The Prime Minister of Tonga, Hu'akavameiliku made the official announcement at the Fifth Pacific Regional Energy and Transport Ministers' Meeting in Port Vila, Vanuatu, where delegations from Pacific Island Countries discussed how to accelerate the decarbonisation of the region’s energy and transport sectors.

Tonga Prime Minister meets District and Town Officers

At a meeting at Ha'apai High School in Pangai last night, the Prime Minister extended gratitude for all they had done to assist the Government.

Hu’akavameiliku said they are the bridge to government in connecting its services to the community.

“Without your assistance nothing would be done,” he told them.

A statement said Hu’akavameiliku said he was grateful for the meeting where frank discussions took place.

District and Town Officers come under the Prime Minister’s Office.

Tonga Prime Minister meets Rwanda’s President Kagame

Hu'akavameiliku conveyed his gratefulness for the invitation to meet the country's Head of State.

He also expressed best wishes from King Tupou VI to President Kagame.

Accompanying the Prime Minister on the visit was the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Fekitamoeloa 'Utoikamanu and the Chief Secretary and Secretary to Cabinet, Edgar Cocker.

Prime Minister, Hu'akavameiliku is in Rwanda to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.
