Giphy's vast library of looping short video animations is hugely popular in Facebook's apps.

But it also provides animations to competitors like TikTok, Snapchat and Twitter.

Now, the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is investigating whether the purchase is a problem.

It has sent an enforcement order to Facebook, effectively putting a hold on any merging of the companies until its investigation is over.

Announcing the acquisition in May this year, Facebook said that half of Giphy's traffic comes from Facebook apps, including Whatsapp and Instagram.

BDO Auckland was engaged to investigate alleged corruption at the university.

According to the Islands Business, the USP Council said in a statement the BDO report had resulted in a "range of findings and recommendations that will need to be addressed to ensure the sound operation of the university".

However, the council did not say what the BDO's recommendations are.

The allegations were raised in a paper by the Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Pal Ahluwalia, titled Issues, Concerns and Breaches of Past Management and Financial Decisions.

Ronaldo, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time and plays for the Italian club Juventus, has maintained he is innocent of rape.

The allegation made headlines last year after Las Vegas police said they were investigating it.

The case stems from a June 13, 2009, call from a woman to Las Vegas police. She reported that she had been sexually assaulted and police took her to the hospital for an examination, the Clark County District Attorney's Office said in a statement.

But she declined to identify the person who she said assaulted her.

It follows a call from the King in his closing speech to parliament last week.

A government spokesperson, Lopeti Senituli, said Prime Minister 'Akilisi Pohiva would welcome a commission of inquiry.

But he said he was not sure what it would achieve, given that criminal prosecutions have already taken place.

"At the moment there hasn't been any discussion at all about what the commission is going to do, who is going to be the members of the commission etc., nothing."

The King used his speech at the close of parliament last week to make a wide-ranging call for more action from the government.

King Tupou VI said the government should fund and set up an independent commission to investigate the Nuku'alofa riots, in which six people died.

In his closing address to the legislative assembly, delivered in his absence by Lord Vaea, the King also noted the rebuilding effort after recent cyclones was slow.

He said there had been delays in getting aid to many families and schools on the main island of Tongatapu.

Kaniva News reported the investigation was launched after photos emerged on social media which appeared to show members of His Majesty's Armed Forces attacking a shirtless man as he lay injured on the ground.

One photo seemed to show a soldier stomping on the man's head with his boot-clad foot.

The military has confirmed an investigation has been launched, saying it regretted all allegations, especially in light of the strong photographic evidence of abusive conduct and the physical attack of a member of the public during an incident on November 4.

An employment lawyer says the images could bring the airline into "disrepute", and may amount to serious misconduct.

The photos show a pilot posing with a blow-up doll inside an aircraft. It is understood the images were shared to Facebook and Instagram.

Another video, which appears to have been posted to Snapchat, shows a flight attendant moving through the cabin, spitting water.

The video is captioned: "Wish I could spit on passengers like this".

An Air New Zealand spokeswoman said the airline was "shocked and appalled" by the images.

 After which it will be forwarded to the resident magistrate for inquest. Alexander, a Fiji Born also holding a New Zealand passport, was taken to the hospital on Saturday and passed away the next day.

Police spokesperson, Ana Naisoro said “If there is any allegations of foul play, it will be investigated by the officers. But at the moment, it is the circumstances around the way she was found and everything, that’s why it is currently being classified as an attempted suicide case”
