The entire country is set to be placed under the highest level of Covid restrictions after an outbreak of the Omicron variant.

The restrictions include a cap of 100 vaccinated people at events and mask wearing in shops and on public transport.

New Zealand has recorded 15,104 Covid cases and 52 deaths.

Ms Ardern confirmed to reporters on Sunday that her wedding to television host Clarke Gayford would not be going ahead.

Nauru, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Palau and the Federated States of Micronesia decided to withdraw from the Forum.

They say South Pacific countries dishonoured a "gentleman's agreement" under which it was Micronesia's turn.

Jacinda Ardern said the Micronesian leaders' decision was regrettable and saddening.

Ardern spoke this morning at Lautoka Mosque as part of her trip to Fiji to remember Imam Hafiz Musa Patel, Ashraf Ali Razak and Ashraf Ali.

She also thanked the Fijian community for their response in the aftermath.

"I want to place on record our deep appreciation for the many messages of support and sympathy we received from Fiji following the March 15 attacks, it gave us strength to know that you stood in solidarity with us.

"But it was especially moving to receive those messages when you faced your own grief," she said.

Jacinda Ardern landed in Suva on Monday evening where she was greeted by Fijian Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama and a full military procession.

The New Zealand national anthem was played and Ardern inspected the guard before being whisked off in a 26 kilometre motorcade at speed through the city of Suva.

Hundreds of locals had come out to line the streets in an effort to see Ardern after the local paper and television channels broadcast the full itinerary of her three days in Fiji including arrivals, events, press conferences and departure times.

 News of the couple's engagement emerged after Ms Ardern was seen at a ceremony on Friday wearing a diamond ring on the middle finger of her left hand.

A hawk-eyed journalism intern spied the new addition and asked the prime minister's office about it.

Her spokesman then confirmed that the pair got engaged over Easter.

Last year, Ms Ardern gave birth to the couple's first child, a daughter named Neve Te Aroha.

Earlier this January, Ms Ardern was asked by the BBC's Victoria Derbyshire if she would ever propose to Mr Gayford.

Ardern was asked at a press conference on Thursday about Folau's posts which were quickly condemned by his employer Rugby Australia.

"Obviously at a personal level I clearly don't agree with what he said, and [I'm] very mindful of the fact that he is for many a role model. He's a person in a position of influence and I think that with that comes responsibility," Ardern said.
