Wallaby's death prompts NZ players to seek help

The 37-year-old Vickerman died at his family home in Sydney at the weekend.

RNZ reports there were no suspicious circumstances.

The players' association said it was trying to make sure players saw themselves as people first and rugby players second.

An NZRPA survey in 2009 found a third of players were unprepared and struggled during the first three months of retirement - while more than half took six months or longer to feel in control of their lives.

A reason for that, Mr Nichol said, was because a player's identity could be solely linked to sport.

Anti-depressant prescriptions double in 10 years, claims new study

Around 61 million prescriptions were made in 2015, more than double the 30 million written in 2005, according to the University College London study.

The average patient now takes medication for six months, compared to just under four months in 1995.

But the number of people diagnosed with depression is almost unchanged.

Bereavement leave: Should you work while you're grieving?

Now there are calls from mental health experts, charities and politicians for a major rethink of how bereaved employees are treated.

The government says workers are entitled to a "reasonable" amount of unpaid leave.

While most employers are compassionate, Newsbeat has been told it can be a "huge lottery".

We follow the journey of an ecstasy pill through testing in Switzerland

There is no such system in the UK although "front of house" testing has been trialled at two festivals in 2016.

We went to the Swiss city of Bern to see a pop-up centre where clubbers get their drugs screened weekly.

And we followed a tablet from drop-off to testing and back to the user for results.

How the pill was tested

First we meet 26-year-old clubber "John" as he drops off a pill for testing.

He says he bought it from friends and he believes it is ecstasy.

Harry Potter actor Devon Murray had 'suicidal thoughts'

He posted online that it has been something he's been going through for the past 10 years.

Earlier this year he had "suicidal thoughts", he says, and encouraged more people to talk about.

In April, the 27-year-old was forced to pay his former agent 260,000 euros (£210,000) in unpaid commission.

The high court judge said he was sorry some of his earnings, close to a million euros, went on pursuits that "were not helpful".

10 things mentally strong people won't do

The true sign of mental strength doesn’t lie in what you do; it’s what you don’t and absolutely won’t do. The greater the challenge, the more difficult it is to respond with mental fortitude.

It’s hard to be mentally strong, especially when you feel stuck. The ability to break the mold and take a bold new direction requires that extra grit, daring, and spunk that only the mentally strongest people have.

15 Qualities You Need to Develop Mental Toughness

Whatever the challenge, you have to be strong, see things through a new lens, and take decisive action if you want to move through it successfully.

It sounds easy. We all want good friends, good jobs, and good relationships.

But it isn't.

It's hard to be mentally tough, especially when you feel stuck. The ability to break the mold and take a bold new direction requires that extra grit, daring, and spunk that only the mentally toughest people have.
