She called off the performance on her Beautiful Trauma tour in Sydney after coming down with a chest infection.

The 38-year-old had been snapped by paparazzi photographers enjoying a day with her family on a beach in Byron.

Speculation followed about why she'd cancelled prompting Pink to respond on Instagram.

Next to a photo of herself and her daughter, Willow, she wrote: 'I scheduled this tour meticulously, trying to do what was best for my children, while also putting on the best and most physically demanding and beautiful show of my life."

The NFL announced on Monday that P!nk will perform the national anthem ahead of kickoff on February 4 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

The singer will make her first Super Bowl appearance, unlike half-time headliner Justin Timberlake, whose last show caused quite a stir.

Timberlake previously created a controversy during half-time of the New England Patriots' 32-29 win over the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004 when he exposed Janet Jackson's breast at the end of the show.

Pink returned to the pop world in August with her single, What About Us, which she says was inspired in part by the state of current world politics.

She released her sixth album, The Truth About Love in 2012, when Barack Obama was the US president.

Her seventh, Beautiful Trauma, is released in October among political unrest in America and across the world.

But as an artist who has recorded anthems for underdogs throughout her career with hits such as Don't Let Me Get Me, Raise Your Glass and So What, she says she is still fighting "an old fight."

Two weeks ago, the anti-abortion group Center for Medical Progress began releasing undercover videos they say shows Planned Parenthood employees discussing the sale of fetal body parts for research, which sparked national controversy.

Planned Parenthood, which has provided medical services for reproductive and other women's health issues, including abortions, for almost 100 years, has denied any wrongdoing and says the footage is edited.
