R Kelly pleads not guilty to sexual assault

The new counts, unveiled last week in an indictment by a Cook County grand jury, involve alleged abuse of a victim between the ages of 13-16, according to documents posted on the Chicago Sun-Times' website.

The allegations centre on someone identified only as J.P., with no other details provided. The alleged crimes allegedly took place between May 2009 and January 2010.

Kelly, 52, could face up to 30 years in prison if convicted on the new charges.

R. Kelly accuser breaks silence

"I'm not ashamed of my past anymore," Lanita Carter told CBS News. "I'm not ashamed of what naysayers say."

Carter, who was once Kelly's hairdresser, claims the R&B star tried to force her into oral sex in 2003. When she resisted, he allegedly masturbated and spat in her face.

Kelly has consistently denied all the charges against him.

Carter, who was 24 at the time of the alleged attack, said she had decided to speak out after watching Kelly's explosive TV interview with Gayle King, in which he tearfully claimed his accusers were "trying to kill" him.

R Kelly released from jail after mystery benefactor pays bail

The performer, 52, was arrested on Wednesday over the unpaid support for three children he has with Andrea Lee. The Cook County Sheriff's Office had said he would have to pay the full amount to be freed.

Sam Randall, a spokesman for the sheriff's office, said in a phone interview on Saturday that the source of the payment was unclear, noting that the name section of the bond slip was left blank.

"Anonymity in this situation is pretty rare," Mr Randall said. "Typically that section of the form is filled out."

R Kelly released on bail over sexual abuse charges

Earlier on Monday he pleaded not guilty to 10 charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse against four women, three of whom were minors at the time.

The 52-year-old, dressed in a blue coat, did not speak to media as he was escorted from jail by his lawyer.

He had turned himself in to police on Friday and spent the weekend in jail.

The singer has faced decades of sexual abuse claims without being convicted, and has denied all previous allegations.

Lady Gaga breaks her silence on R Kelly

It comes after the broadcast of a new documentary about Kelly, which detailed allegations of sexual and physical abuse against women and underage girls, spanning several decades.

Gaga called the stories "horrifying" and "indefensible", adding: "I stand behind these women 1000%".

Kelly has denied all the allegations.

His lawyer also dismissed the documentary as "another round of stories" being used to "fill reality TV time".

R Kelly documentary premiere evacuated after threats

"The location was evacuated, no shots were fired. No arrests have been made and the investigation is onoging," New York Police Department told the BBC.

The six-part series focuses on the women who have accused the singer of sexual misconduct, which he denies.

#MeToo founder Tarana Burke was among several panellists at the screening.

She tweeted: "The worst of it isn't the threat though because it didn't appear to be credible, but the survivors who had to endure his harassment. #MuteRKelly"
