World reacts to England's crumbling defeat

Their nation - and the world's - eyes were locked on them as hosts, but England was thrashed by Australia and is now taking a thrashing by commentators after being the first host country to not make it to the knock-out stages.

The Telegraph said the team left the World Cup in "humiliating fashion", while the Independent said the decision to bring in attacking brio George Ford was made too late.

"Some or all of the England players may come to regard this as the great missed opportunity of their careers," Hugh Godwin wrote in the Independent.

VIDEO: Rugby World Cup 2015 - England set for must-win Australia clash

Up next for Stuart Lancaster's men are Australia. They face the Aussies in a must-win game on Saturday.

Beat the Wallabies and England are all but guaranteed their place in the next round. However, a draw would still earn the men in white a stay of execution.

Defeat and it's goodnight England.

Sloppy, but coach unfazed

The 43-10 win over Georgia at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium was not the emphatic victory the side had hoped for, after talking about needing to step up a level during the week.

There were some positives, with Waisake Naholo's outstanding opening try with his first touch in a World Cup and Julian Savea's hat-trick putting smiles on the face of the All Blacks coach.

However it will be the error rate that will be of most concern, with the side struggling with some of the basics of the game.

"They're just 15 guys," said Scott of the South Africans.

England v Australia: Biggest game of our careers - Stuart Lancaster

About 82,000 will be at Twickenham on Saturday, and defeat means England would be the first World Cup hosts to fail to reach the knockout stages.

They have won four of the past five meetings with Australia.

"It is a huge game, at home. With the whole country behind us, we'll be difficult to beat," Lancaster said.

Australia have won both their matches in the tournament, while England let slip a 10-point lead with 30 minutes remaining to lose 28-25 to Wales in their previous encounter.

All Blacks struggle to win over Georgia

The All Blacks scored four first-half tries and led 22-10 at the break.

But Steve Hansen won't be happy with his team's performance as they made far too many errors.

Our rugby reporter says while the All Blacks had the vast majority of the ball they were generally unable to break the Georgian defence, while their handling let them down.
