Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for Jobs in the Pacific has found that almost 10,000 jobs could be created across Fiji, Samoa and Tonga, with optimistic scenarios making that number as high as 27,000, representing more than 3% of GDP.

The airline recently won the bid to operate the MA60 after a previous lease between the two was terminated in February after the 56-seater plane was grounded.

Real Tonga's chief executive Tevita Palu says the company is now waiting on the government to certify the aircraft but he hopes to use it for international routes.

"There is nothing stopping us from doing that. The aeroplane, the MA60, it was not capable of doing that route before so hopefully this time round the aircraft will be certified to serve those routes."

Tonga, who scored eight tries in a dozen games for the Kangaroos, arrives after a season with Catalans Dragons in Super League.

The former Queensland State of Origin star, 32, is the latest big-name recruit for a club that finished top of the Championship last season but then missed out on promotion after failing miserably in the Super 8s.

Ex-England stand-off Rangi Chase, Samoa captain Harrison Hansen and former Hull KR second-row Corey Paterson have all joined from Salford Red Devils in readiness for 2016 along with another international player Reni Maitua.
