Tonga GPS Talafo’ou wins Eastern District Soroban Competition

Mu’a Government Primary School came second and Lapaha Government Primary School came third.

About 90 primary students from 22 schools competed in the written examination, oral examination and flash examination, and prizes were awarded to the top students for each category of classes 3, 4 and 5.

The next competition will be held at the Western District of Tongatapu on 20 August.

The Central District of Tongatapu had their competition earlier this week, on Tuesday 11 August.

St Falakiko ‘Asisi Primary School was awarded the best overall school.

Hilliard Memorial School settled in second place and Government Primary School Ngele’ia came in third.

Students competed in written, oral and flash examinations. 

Winners of each category for classes 3, 4 and 5 were awarded prizes, at the Free Church of Tonga Hall in Kapeta.

The next district competitions are the eastern and western districts of Tongatapu this month.

The competition was held in Ha’apai and Vava’u last month.

Students impress at Soroban Competition in Ha’apai

A total of 191 soroban students from six Government Primary Schools competed with each other in the three judging categories; written examination, oral examination, and flash examination.

Faleloa Government Primary School came in second place and Fotua Government Primary School came in third.

Top students in the written examination from Ha’apai will travel to Nuku’alofa to compete in the National Soroban Competition in March next year.

GPS Fotua Wins Soroban Competition in Ha’apai, Tonga

Radio Tonga reports a  total of 216 soroban students from Class 3 to Class 5 competed this year in the written examination, oral examination, and flash examination.

Six Government Primary Schools participated in the competition; GPS Fakakai, GPS Faleloa, GPS Fotua, GPS Koulo, GPS Pangai and GPS Tongoleleka

‘Eua wins National Soroban competition

A statement said Sandy was the best pick of the lot when the competition was held at the Queen Salote Memorial Hall on March 17.

Her trip to Japan will be funded by the International Soroban Diffusion Foundation. This year is the 6th competition at national level since soroban was introduced in 1977. 

The participants consisted of students selected from Classes 4 and 5 from the outer islands, including  Vava’u, ‘Eua and Ha’apa and students from here in Tongatapu.
