Another five soldiers were wounded in a rocket attack on Turkish tanks, the military said in a statement.

The fatalities are believed to be the first since Turkey launched its operation inside Syria two weeks ago.

Two fighters from the Free Syrian Army were also killed and another two injured in the attack.

"Two of our hero comrades were martyred and five were wounded in a rocket attack on two of our tanks by Daesh (IS) elements," the army statement said.

The rocket attack was launched near the village of al-Waqf, it added.

Only the camouflage t-shirt and the tent walls billowing around him offer a hint that this is no ordinary workplace, but the epicenter of jihadi recruitment in Syria.

The footage then shows one of the men taking a knife to the child's head. The boy appears to be quite young, perhaps around 10, though CNN cannot verify his age or identity.

For many watching from a distance, the shock value of reports about the aftermath of barrel bombs, suicide attacks, torture and starving civilians can diminish with repetition.

The YPG said Levi Jonathan Shirley, a volunteer also known as Agir Servan, died on July 14 in Manbij, an ISIS-held city in northern Syria.

"We have to find out where they came from... and how they were financed," Francois Molins told reporters.

He said seven attackers had been killed, and that all had been heavily armed and wearing explosive belts.

Friday's attacks, claimed by Islamic State militants, hit a concert hall, a major stadium, restaurants and bars.
