Russian figure skater can compete at Beijing Olympics

The Court of Arbitration for Sport cleared the gold medallist from the team event to skate in her next Olympic event starting today despite the doping charge against her, which has rocked the world of figure skating.

CAS upheld an earlier decision by the Russian Anti-Doping Agency to lift a provisional ban on Valieva, after she had tested positive on Dec. 25 for a banned substance.

No medals will be awarded in either the team event won by the Russian Olympic Committee or the individual women's event starting on Tuesday should Valieva finish in the top three, the IOC said.

WADA may call for total Russian ban at Rio 2016 if Sochi 2014 allegations proven

This ban will come in place if accusations of an orchestrated and state-supported doping scheme at Sochi 2014 are proven, the body's President Sir Craig Reedie claimed here today.

Sir Craig described Richard McLaren’s pending report into the allegations concerning the Winter Olympics in 2014 as a “precedent-setting opportunity to demonstrate collective commitment to clean sport”.

WADA seeking host for 2019 World Conference on Doping in Sport

Interested countries have until November 25 this year to submit an expression of interest to WADA for the event, which brings together a number of key stakeholders across the world.

These include participants from the sport movement, public authorities, anti-doping organisations, athletes, coaches and the media, who attend the Conference in a bid to tackle the most pressing issue facing sport.

Those who put their names forward for the event will have their submissions reviewed in November and December, before sites are visited in the early months of 2017.

But when the list came out last week, that medicine wasn't on it.
