Eua Water Quality Improvement Project to improve island's water quality

Princess Angelika Latufuipeka Tuku’aho commissioned the project on Friday, 3 March 2023.

A Government release said the new water quality improvement project has installed a new rapid mixer, filters, solar panel system, chlorine dosing equipment, and test kits.

Tonga Water Board said the project will boost the reliability of the water supply and quality of water for consumers on ‘Eua Island.

Tongan community receives NZ fund to improve water supply

The funding was approved by New Zealand High Commissioner, Tiffany Babington.

There are an increasing number of water issues in Navutoka which largely relate to poor water infrastructure and management.

The High Commission said the project aims to improve the health of children and youth through an improved water supply system and by educating youth and children in the community on how to use water wisely.

‘Eua marvels at new water supply

The cost for project is about $100,000, said ‘Elisiva Tapueluelu.the Secretary of the Tonga Water Board.

Two new underground water supplies were identified and established for the distribution of water to ‘Ohonua district.

The new supply of water will be just as good as water provided to consumers in Nuku‘alofa, Vava‘u and Ha‘apai.”

The Minister for Revenue and Customs and representative of the people of ‘Eua to Parliament, Tevita Lavemaau was chief guest at the commissioning of the water project.
