Worcester sign 'physical and powerful' Tongan No8 Sione Vailanu

Vailanu is the second Wasps player Warriors have recruited for next season following tighthead prop Jack Owlett.

They join Scotland international wing Duhan van der Merwe (Edinburgh), England scrum-half Willi Heinz (Gloucester), Wales hooker Scott Baldwin (Harlequins), scrum-half Will Chudley and tighthead prop Christian Judge (Bath) as newcomers.

“Sione is really powerful and explosive,” said Worcester boss Jonathan Thomas. “I have been an admirer of him as a player from his time with Saracens and since he joined Wasps.

Worcester Warriors 25-46 Bath

Tries from flankers Paul Grant and Matt Garvey either side of half time put the visitors in control before England's Anthony Watson raced in to score.

David Denton, Joe Taufet'ee and Perry Humphreys all scored second-half tries for Worcester.

But lock James Phillips and two tries for Kahn Fotuali'i sealed Bath's winning bonus point.

After Rhys Priestland's opening two penalties inside the first 14 minutes, Chris Pennell got Warriors back in the game when he finally slotted one home from close to the halfway line having missed his first two attempts at goal.
