20 Tongans set to receive Project Management Certification

U.S. Embassy Political and Economic Chief, Helene Tuling today launched the final module of the Project Management course conducted by USAID in the Kingdom of Tonga.

USAID is sponsoring the course as part of its partnership with the University of the South Pacific (USP) /Pacific Technical and Further Education (TAFE) Department.

Twenty participants, including nine women, are attending the five-month course to strengthen their management skills to coordinate and implement #DisasterResilience projects.

Participants include mid-level managers of Government departments, including the Ministry of Meteorology, Ministry of Fisheries - Tonga , and Ministry of Finance and National Planning, representatives from non-governmental organizations, such as Tonga Red Cross Society, Caritas TONGA, and Tonga Community Development Trust; and local private sector organizations, such as CaBella Construction.

The USP/Pacific TAFE Certificate IV course in Project Management is a four-unit course using a blended, face-to-face and online, mode of delivery.

The course is internationally recognized for membership in the United States Project Management Institute.
