Digicel Group Founder and Chairman, Denis O’Brien and members of the Board have been briefed on the company’s ‘road to recovery’ following the devastation caused by Cyclone Gita in Tonga.
Mr O’Brien and the Board members visited Tonga and met Digicel staff and management on Monday.
The visitors were able to see first-hand the trail of destruction left behind by the category 4 cyclone that hit Tonga last month.
Mr. O’Brien and the Board members also visited the Digicel office that was extensively damaged.
They met the 12 staff and a security guard who all sheltered in the office during the cyclone.
Three children were among the staff who sought refuge in the office.
Staff were able to express their gratitude to the Chairman and the Board for humanitarian aid and financial assistance given to them after the cyclone.
