High Commissioner of India to Tonga presents credentials to His Majesty

The Indian High Commissioner to Tonga, H.E. Vishva Sapkal has presented his credentials to His Majesty at the Royal Palace in Nuku’alofa.

 

The High Commissioner is based in Fiji and is also accredited to 6 other Pacific Islands.

He also held bilateral discussions with the Deputy Prime Minister Siaosi Sovaleni and other officials Wednesday.

Radio Tonga reports while in Nuku’alofa, Mr Sapkal presented USD$600.00 to the Breast Cancer Society.

“I have gone through the internet and checked, that Tonga Breast Cancer Society is doing a good job and that’s why I wanted to do a donation, a noble cause which is a good cause creating awareness to the society which is an important thing.  Human life is very precious and if we take a preventative measure not to fall to these diseases then that is a great thing, “he said.

This is Mr Sapkal’s first visit to Tonga.

The donation was received by the President of the Society, Fatafehi o Lapaha Filipe who thanked His Excellency for the kind assistance.

“This year we are going to celebrate our 10th anniversary in October. So most of the proceeds will go towards our usual targets, which is to spread the awareness of breast cancer and these assistance including todays will promote that and support that,” Filipe said.

Members of the Tonga Breast Cancer Society also attended the presentation programme.
