Tonga train with London Scottish as they step up Rugby World Cup preparations

Tonga have been training with London Scottish as they finalise their preparations ahead of the Rugby World Cup.

The squad have been getting ready for September's showpiece event, and went up against the RFU Championship side at Cranleigh School in Surrey in order to do so.

London Scottish head coach Pete Richards tweeted : 'What a great experience @LSFCOfficial had today training against @officialTongaRU. Thank you for your hospitality.'

The training session came after the news that the haka of all the Pacific Island sides, including New Zealand, will be given its full voice at the World Cup.

Last year, the All Blacks' traditional war dance was drowned out by the noise of the England fans ahead of their Autumn international, as stadium managers turned down the sound at Twickenham.

But a World Rugby spokesman said earlier this week: ‘The haka will be shown on the big screens during the World Cup and audio will be played as it was at the last two tournaments in New Zealand and France.'

Tonga, ranked 11th in the world, face Georgia on September 19 at Kingsholm in Gloucester, the day after England's tournament opener against Fiji at Twickenham.

The Pacific Island side then clash with Namibia at Sandy Park, Exeter 10 days later, before playing Argentina in Leicester on October 4.

Five days later, they face their final Pool C game against New Zealand at St James' Park.

Earlier this month, Tonga finished third in the 2015 World Rugby Pacific Nations Cup after beating Japan 31-20 in the third place play-off.
