Anthony Mundine

Boxer Jeff Horn considers Anthony Mundine match-up

Horn is set for a massive 2018 after successfully defending his WBO welterweight championship with a late stoppage against Gary Corcoran on Wednesday night.

But despite Top Rank promoter Bob Arum's plan for an April clash with mandatory challenger Crawford in Las Vegas, no deal has been done and Horn's next opponent is far from settled.

Negotiations between Arum, Horn's trainer Glenn Rushton and Duco Events Boss Dean Lonergan kicked off on Thursday.

Sonny Bill Williams will 'stay with rugby union' - Anthony Mundine

"I feel he'll stay in rugby," Mundine, a former NRL player turned professional boxer, said.

"As great as rugby league is, rugby is the world game. Lots of countries play it all over Europe and South Africa, it's massive. I went to South Africa to watch him play a [Super Rugby] game and they had fans waiting outside the hotel room. It's a big thing. It's the biggest sport over there. It's crazy."

Sonny Bill Williams lends Anthony Mundine $532,000 in handshake deal

The A$500,000 (NZD$532,000) loan came just before Mundine's recent fight against Danny Green, The Sunday Telegraph in Sydney reported.

There was no written agreement, just a handshake, the newspaper said.

It was the return of a favour, as Mundine gave Williams A$750,000 (NZD$800,000) in 2008 when Williams went to play rugby in France, leaving the Canterbury Bulldogs rugby league team.

"It's very hard to explain our brotherhood in words," Mundine said. "I didn't understand it until I became a Muslim. We trust and we love each other.

Green reacts to Mundine's protest against Australian national anthem

Mundine said to reporters on Monday that he is trying to "better Australia" and "educate people" by rejecting the nation's song - to be sung by indigenous performer Jessica Mauboy pre-bout.

But Green says he won't following Choc's lead and is adamant he doesn't have enough "emotional investment" in Mundine to be affected by anything he says.

"I’ll be standing and singing the anthem," Green said.
