5.6 quake off Tonga says USGS

The United States Geological Survey says an earthquake of magnitude 5.6 has struck off Tonga.

There were no immediate reports of damages or casualties from the quake, which hit at a depth of 10 km, about 100 km off Hihifo which is on Niuatoputapu.   

The earthquake was also recorded south-southeast off the coast of Sigave in the French territory of Wallis and Futuna.

No tsunami warning was issued by the Hawaii-based Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre.
