India man wakes up to crocodile shock

Dasharath Madkami said he found the animal when a strange sound woke him up at around 03:00 local time (21:30 GMT).

He raised the alarm to alert other villagers, who overpowered the reptile and tied it to a tree.

Local wildlife authorities eventually came and rescued the animal.

There was some dispute over where it could be released.

India girl kills herself over 'menstruation shaming'

In a suicide note, she accused the teacher of "torturing" her.

Although the girl did not mention period shaming in her letter, the mother says her daughter was asked to leave the class because of the stain.

Police say they have registered a case of suicide and are investigating. The incident took place early on Sunday in Tirunelveli district in the state of Tamil Nadu.

England win Women's World Cup

India, chasing a modest 229 to win, was cruising to victory in the final as it reached 190 for three. But a late collapse, sparked by five wickets in 19 balls from Anya Shrubsole, saw England snatch an unlikely victory on home soil.

"It was just an unbelievable game. We looked for minute like we were out of it," Shrubsole said. "But one of the great things about this team, we never give up. We never let the run rate get away from us, even though we weren't getting wickets. We knew if we got a couple we'd be right in the game and all was well in the end.

But the rights group said arbitrary internet shutdowns "violated India's obligations under international human rights law".

Indian authorities frequently shut telecommunication services in Indian-administered Kashmir.

Earlier this month, the government in the western state of Maharashtra shut down internet services after protests led by farmers turned violent.

Three people were beaten to death in Seraikela district on Thursday morning and three more were killed in Jamshedpur district in the evening.

A senior police official told BBC Hindi that the incidents happened because of "rumours that a child-kidnapping group was active in these areas".

Police have not yet arrested any suspects in the two cases.

It is not clear when and how the rumours started. But RK Malik, a spokesperson for the state police, said people had become increasingly worried by them.
