NZR staying mum on All Blacks coach's future

Rugby Union chief executive Mark Robinson said there will be conversations in the next few days over who will be the coach for the game against Argentina on 27 August.

However, a decision may not be known till the middle of the week.

Robinson said any decision on Foster's future is down to the board.

The 35-23 win in Johannesburg early this morning followed a run of five losses in six games, including a series loss against Ireland.

Robinson had said earlier he backed Foster till the conclusion of the two Springboks tests.

Kanaloa Pasifika to serve NZ Rugby legal notice

The Auckland-based Moana Pasifika bid and a Fiji-led delegation have been chosen to join the new-look competition in 2022, alongside the existing five teams from New Zealand and five from Australia.

But Kanaloa Pasifika have claimed NZR breached its own rules by appointing Moana Pasifika as a Primary Partner when the group did not take part in the formal tender process.

Kanaloa Chef Executive Officer Tracy Atiga said they have instructed their legal counsel to issue a letter to NZR today.

NZR hold Cheika in limbo over Samu

There are five uncapped players in Cheika's 33-man squad but Samu who signed with a two-year deal with the Brumbies this week isn't one of them.

Rugby Australia had submitted an official request to New Zealand Rugby for the release of the Australian born Samu but approval was yet to come through.

While World Rugby's regulations force the release of players for Test duty in June, there is a sub-clause that allows unions to deny such requests when the player holds dual eligibility.

Aaron Smith sex scandal: New Zealand Rugby launches new investigation

The messages appear to show Smith had convinced the woman he was caught in an airport toilet with last year to lie in a legal document, had mislead his coach, and had attempted to deceive his partner.

On Thursday, New Zealand Rugby confirmed to Newshub based on the new information, it's planning to "investigate the Aaron Smith matter further".

"It is effectively an employment issue that requires investigation," the spokesperson said.
