Tonga Residents learn a lot from Fiji Residents

Team Official Sione Tukuafu has thanked Fiji Rugby league for the opportunity.

Tukuafu says despite their loss in the first two games they have familiarized themselves with how the Fijians are playing.

He says that they will put together a new structure to counter Fiji Residents on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Fiji Residents Coach Brandon Costin says that Tonga has learned and vastly improved since the first round.

Costin says he expects more pressure going into the third and final test this weekend.

Fiji Residents thrash Tonga Residents

Fiji dominated most parts of the game and led 24-4 in the first half.

In the second half, the Fiji Residents were again in control as they rampaged through the Tongan defence.

Fiji scored a total of 10 tries.

The two will meet again next Wednesday at 3pm at the ANZ Stadium.

Fiji, Samoa too strong in Ohana Cup league match-ups

RNZ reports Fiji defeated the Canada Wolverines 26-12 in a full test match, despite only using locally-based players, while Samoa Residents thrashed their Tongan counterparts 40-6.

Tonga were also beaten by Fiji in Suva a week earlier and went into the match with a number of players unavailable.

Team manager Toa Kaufusi said they still played ok but the Toa Residents were too strong.

"I think the Samoans came totally prepared because they brought players from New Zealand and Australia to play in their team so it's all good."
