Tongan teen jailed for life for murder of Chinese couple

Sitiveni ‘Esi Muli, 17, was found guilty of the murder of Feng Sheng Pei and his wife Su Jie Wen.

A seven-member jury found Muli guilty on two counts of murder and one count of armed robbery on Thursday.

Kaniva News reports the jury took about less than an hour to reach its verdict.

The court previously heard how a disagreement over a payment led to Muli attacking Feng before he attacked Su.

The couple’s bodies were found with multiple stab wounds on their heads and necks at their vegetable plantation.

Tonga Police investigate double homicide

The bodies of the victims, who are in their early 50s, were found in a bush allotment at Lakepa with stab wounds to their heads and necks on Sunday afternoon.

The couple’s vehicle, a silver Toyota Sparky 2000, registration number L16768 is missing.

Police are looking for the vehicle as of interest to their homicide investigation.

Police are also appealing for anyone who has any information about the homicide to come forward or contact Police Emergency 922, 23417 or the nearest Police station to you.
