Tonga police arrest teens for attack on shopkeeper

The suspects are aged 16 and 17 years respectively.

Kaniva News reports the victim remains in a critical condition in Vaiola Hospital.

Police said the teenagers entered a shop at Lapaha on Sunday night after they knocked on the door.

They pretended to buy cigarettes, Police said.

Once inside they allegedly hit the victim on her head with a rock and fled with cigarettes, cash and other items.

Police alleged the teens had been sniffing benzene before they committed the crime.

Teen arrested after London acid attacks

They all happened within 90 minutes in Hackney, Stoke Newington and Islington on Thursday night and detectives are treating them as linked.

The attacks began at 10.25pm on Thursday in Hackney Road.

The teenage male is being held at an east London police station on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and robbery.

The victims were taken to hospital, with one of them suffering "life-changing injuries".

One 32-year-old man on a moped was left with facial injuries after a moped, with two male riders, pulled up alongside him in Hackney at about 10.25pm.

Machete wielding teens charged for robbery in Tonga

Kaniva News reports the teenagers threatened a shopkeeper with a machete on June 10, 2017.  

Police believe the suspects fled with around $300 pa’anga after they entered the Chinese shop at around 11:40pm.

A Police search and investigation team found the teenagers on Monday, June 12.

They had been charged with armed robbery.
