Digicel provides more humanitarian aid to families in cyclone-hit Tongatapu

Digicel Tonga has continued its third week of Corporate Social Responsibility with the distribution of humanitarian aid to families that need it most in the local community.

This week, a team visited Maamaloa Side School, Tonga Side School, St. Francis Catholic School, GPS Nuku’alofa and GPS Fasi in the central area of Tongatapu.

School stationery and bottled Fiji Water were supplied to all five schools.

The Digicel team visited 34 homes of children with special needs from the Mango Tree Centre and provided them with food boxes and water today.

Some homes have been completely destroyed and the occupants were given tents and relief aid to assist them.

Digicel has been a major sponsor of Mango Tree Centre in the past few years and has helped with education for children with special needs.

Homes, farms and infrastructure were extensively damaged when Cyclone Gita struck Tongatapu and Eua islands last month.
