How Ed Sheeran helped Harry Styles with Debut

"I played him a few songs after the album was finished," Harry told the Radio 1 Breakfast Show.

"He didn't say that he didn't like any but he did like one song that isn't on the album."

Ignoring the advice of one of the most successful singer-songwriters might not be a good idea, but Harry says he still decided to leave it off the album.

"He [Ed] is really good - he's one of the most talented dudes I know," he said.

Ed Sheeran denies Take That another number one album

Wonderland - the second album since Take That became a trio - had to settle for second place and the highest new entry, with 113,000 sales.

James Blunt has scored his fifth top 10 album, as The Afterlove debuts at six.

Sheeran's Shape of You isn't losing its form in the singles chart, staying at number one for the 12th straight week.

He is also at number two with Galway Girl and number five with Castle on the Hill - both from Divide, the Official Charts Company said.

Ed Sheeran to make guest appearance in Game of Thrones

Speaking at the SXSW film festival in Texas, David Benioff and Dan Weiss said they'd been trying to book him for a while.

Ed also confirmed the news as reports started to appear online by tweeting "guess the cat's out the bag".

It's not clear what role he'll have in the show.

The panel at SXSW also featured stars Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams.

It was suggested that the Ed Sheeran booking was made as a surprise for Maisie because she's a big fan of the singer.

Ed's not the first musician to appear in Game of Thrones.

Ed Sheeran rules the charts: Where can he go next?

In its first week it outsold the rest of the top 500 combined and became the fastest-selling album ever by a male artist.

Ed is also number one on the singles chart. And number two. And number three, four, five, six,..

Actually let's save some time: Ed Sheeran holds 16 places on this week's top 20 - a chart first.

In its opening week, Divide sold four times more than the fastest-selling album of 2016 - David Bowie's Blackstar.

Sheeran now has the third fastest-selling album in UK chart history, behind Adele and Oasis.

Ed Sheeran wrote 10 versions of every song on his new album

In the lobby of Atlantic Records in West London, a poster of Ed Sheeran's massive face peeks out from behind a chandelier, smiling beatifically at you.

As you get in the lift, there he is again. And when you walk past the boardroom, he's present in puppet form - the marionette from his Sing video is stood upright in a glass presentation case.

We're ushered into the press office, where Ed's magazine covers have all been framed and hung on the wall. There's the NME, Q magazine, Rolling Stone, Billboard... and someone has stuck googly eyes on them all.

Ed Sheeran reveals Bieber's Love Yourself was meant for his new album, Divide

The track became one of Justin Bieber's biggest hits, spending six weeks at number one in the UK.

He said Justin's input had made the Grammy-nominated song "what it is".

Is Ed Sheeran releasing a new album tomorrow?

He took a year-long break from social media in December 2015 but returned last month. And on New Year's Day, he posted a short video of him holding a sign saying: "New music coming Friday!"

Since then, he has been tweeting song lyrics and "÷" signs.

His first album was called +, while his second was called x.

Ed Sheeran is co-hosting the Radio 1 Breakfast Show on Friday, by which time he will have released something.

It's not certain whether that will be a full album or just one track.

Two tweets also contained what are presumably song lyrics.

Ed Sheeran hit with song suit

The heirs of songwriter Ed Townsend have sued Sheeran in New York federal court for copyright infringement of the 1973 soul hit "Let's Get It On." Townsend and Marvin Gaye co-wrote the song.

"The Defendants copied the 'heart' of 'Let's' and repeated it continuously throughout 'Thinking,'" the lawsuit claims. It alleges there are "melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic compositions" in the two songs that are "substantially and/or strikingly similar."

Gaye died in 1984 and Townsend died in 2003.
