157 Tongan passengers from Fiji last repatriation for 2020

The passengers will spend 14 days in quarantine at the Tanoa Hotel International Dateline Hotel in Nuku’alofa and Makeke Camp in Vaini.

Members of the public are prohibited from entering both properties except essential Tanoa Hotel and Makeke Camp employees, emergency officers, medical emergency officers, and authorized officers.

Vuna Road and Tupoulahi Road will also be blocked in the vicinity of the Tanoa Hotel during the quarantine period.

Repatriation flight from Fiji delayed

The notice was issued based on an advice from the Ministry of Health.

The repatriated passengers from Fiji are required to undertake their COVID-19 testing for the results to be received negative.

Experts and consultants to assist the Ministry of Health response team and various projects currently implemented are allowed to return, provided that they meet the requirements.

In the meantime, all repatriated passengers must agree and follow the quarantine terms and conditions upon arrival in Tonga.

Test results return negative for 57 passengers on Tonga’s first repatriation flight

Minister for Health, Associate Professor ‘Amelia Afuha’amango announced this at a Press Conference at Vaiola yesterday (Wednesday).

Today is Day 4 for the repatriated passengers at Tanoa Quarantine Facility where their second test for COVID-19 will be done on Day 14.

The travellers were stranded in Fiji when borders closed in March as a result of the coronavirus COVID-19 global pandemic.

Tonga is COVID-19 free .

58 Tongan nationals stranded in Fiji return home

The travellers were on the first repatriation flight, which landed at Fua’amotu International Airport Monday afternoon.

According to a statement from the Tonga Government, the passengers were tested for COVID-19 in Fiji on Friday last week and the results were all negative.

The Government of Tonga acknowledged the support of the Fijian Government in conducting the COVID-19 tests free of charge.
