Fatal car crash involving over 200 vehicles in China

State media reports the crash was caused by heavy fog in the area.

Police say the driver, a 29-year-old man, was detained by passers-by and arrested at the scene.

Emergency officials said it was unclear whether the incident, which happened shortly before 10:30 local time (08:30 GMT), was intentional or an accident.

The incident took place in the heart of western Berlin, on one of its busiest shopping streets.

"At this time, we can confirm that five people are deceased and over 40 are injured," the Waukesha Police Department said on its Facebook page. "However, these numbers may change as we collect additional information."

Waukesha Police chief Dan Thompson earlier told reporters that a person of interest was in custody and a vehicle had been recovered after the incident in the town, about 32 km west of Milwaukee.

But Police have denied the reports.

Acting Police Superintendent Tevita Vailea told Kaniva News he had been contacted after reports on Facebook wrongly accused the 60-year-old man, who was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident, of hit-and-run.

“’Oku ‘ikai mo’oni e pehe ko e hit and run,” Vailea said.

This translates into English as: “The hit-and-run claim is untrue.”

The victim from Folaha was declared dead on arrival at Vaiola hospital.

Tonga crash victim dies in hospital

‘Aisake Lavelua, 27, suffered serious injuries when the van he was travelling in rolled over and crashed into an electric pole.

Another passenger is admitted with serious injuries at Vaiola Hospital.

The other occupants of the vehicle escaped serious injuries.

Kaniva News reports Police and community authorities responded to reports of an apparent single-vehicle rollover crash in Fo’ui.

Police said the driver lost control of the van and it crashed into a power pole.

Investigations are continuing.

     

Speed racing lands man in hospital

The victim is reported to be in a critical condition.

According to Acting Chief Superintendent of Police, Tevita Vailea, the victim from Houma was in a speed race with another vehicle in the early hours of Sunday.

His vehicle crashed into an oncoming car on Hihifo Road.

"Driving under the influence of alcohol was also a factor in this accident. The other driver who was in the second vehicle involved in this race fled the scene."

“The victim sustained head injuries. No one else was seriously injured,” Vailea said.

     

Venus Williams being sued after road accident

A civil complaint filed today, days before the revered Wimbledon tournament, claims that Williams was negligent in the June 9th crash near her Florida residence in Palm Beach Gardens.

A passenger in a small sedan that collided with Williams' larger SUV, Jerome Barson, 78, died June 22, according to the suit and, separately, the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner's office.

School bus crash kills 36 in Tanzania

The fatal crash happened in city of Arusha in Tanzania's northern Karatu District, on the edge of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

"The place where it happened is a hill, with a steep slope, and it was raining when the accident happened," Aruba Police Commander Charles Mkumbo said.

Mkumbo added investigators were still trying to determine exactly what caused the bus to leave the road. "We don't know if the driver was new or if there was a mechanical defect," he said.

Emergency C-Section saves baby; Vavaʻu mother stable after accident

The baby girl weighing 2kg was safe and sound while a 15-month-old child received head injuries in the accident.

An emergency medevac team had been flown from Tongatapu to Vavaʻu to address the situation, Tonga’s Minister of Health Hon Saia Piukala told Kaniva News on Wednesday night

The baby’s mum was “more stable now but still need to bring to Vaiola for further management , the minister said.

He said the medevac team was consisted of anaesthetists, obstetricians and a paediatrician.

Double car accident reported in Nukuʻalofa

According to Kaniva News, no reports of death or injuries and the identities of those involved have yet to be released.

According to local news reports two cars crashed at ʻAlaivahamamaʻo road.

Another car crash on Taufaʻahau road in Fanga was also reported.
