Tonga borders to open in October

Ma'u said the progressive process of opening of the borders starts in August.

That will see passengers free from quarantine when they arrive in Nuku’alofa.

About 400 repatriates arrived in Tonga last week from New Zealand, Fiji and Australia and the passengers are the last to be brought in under approval of the Repatriation Committee and the National Emergency Management Committee (NEMC).

Ma’u said last week’s flights were the last to be approved by the Repatriation Committee and the National Emergency Management Committee (NEMC).

Duke and Duchess of Sussex to visit Tonga in October

The Tongan Prime Minister's advisor, Lopeti Senituli, this week confirmed the dates for the royal visit.

Mr Senituli told Matangi Tonga that Prince Harry and Megan are expected to arrive in Tongatapu on the 25th and depart the following day.

No programme has been confirmed at this stage.

The royal couple will also be visiting Fiji, Australia and New Zealand during their tour of the Pacific region.

A high-profile trip to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga in October is being discussed at the highest level and aides are promising that the second half of this year will be ‘incredibly busy’ with official visits.

The couple have already announced that they are delaying their honeymoon to return to work the week after their nuptials.

It is anticipated that Miss Markle – now the Duchess of Sussex – will join the Queen at the Chelsea Flower Show for the first time and make an appearance at one of her annual garden parties in the coming weeks.

Oceania Youth Futsal meet in Oct

Seven U-18 men and five U-18 women’s teams will participate in the inaugural tournament with the winners of each category directly qualifying for the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Argentina.

There is no doubt each participating country is preparing for the event.

One of the countries that so passionate about Futsal game in the Pacific Islands is Solomon Islands.

Solomon Islands which has a history on Futsal and remains Oceania champions since the inception of the sport in Oceania loves to carry on the legacy set down by their National Futsal team.
