Special public holiday to celebrate Tonga’s historic win

A statement from the Prime Minister’s office said the special public holiday is in recognition of the outstanding and historical achievement made by the Tonga Invitational XIII Rugby League Team against Great Britain Lions and Australian Kangaroos,

Last Friday Cabinet had approved that Friday, 15 November 2019 shall be declared a Special Public Holiday to the entirety of the Kingdom of Tonga.

“This is to celebrate the achievement, outstanding performance and the talents gifted to Tongan players by the Government of Tonga,” the statement said.

Special public holiday to celebrate 150th anniversary of Tupou College

A government statement says this special public holiday is a one-off and it is in recognition of the 150th Anniversary of Tupou College.

The college of the Free Wesleyan Church of Tonga is the first secondary school to the established in Tonga and to reach 150 years.
