When Digicel does Christmas, Everything is Ma’alahi!

Mafi Matapule Laumape of Pea won himself $2,500 pa’anga.

The 39-year-old is a single father and a seasonal worker who frequently visits Australia. 

Laumape is a loyal customer of Digicel for 10 years. 

He usually purchases the weekly voice bundle and international call bundle because of its affordability and convenience. 

Laumape said he is extremely excited to have won cash this week as it will help him prepare for his daughter’s school preparation this year.

The 39 year old woman, who is a full time house wife with 5 children relies on her husband’s employment as their main source of income for the family.

Taufahema says, sometimes they receive money from relative overseas but after Christmas they have spent all their money on church functions etc.

Receiving the call from Digicel that she has won $2,500 cash was in total shock to her family as they had no idea they could have won such prize.

Taufahema usually buys an international call bundle to call her sister and families’ overseas and mobile data plans.

Digicel Tonga announces more winners of $2500 Ma’alahi Christmas promotion

Lautaha and Kaufusi have won $2500 cash.

Mother of two, Lautaha has been a Digicel customer for the past 3 years.

“Digicel provides cheaper rates/promotion especially mobile data,” she said.

Lautaha weaves and sells mats to support her family.

She said she will use the cash to renovate the family home as well as buy gifts for her children.

Sesilia Maue of Tokomololo, Sevaki Feao of Havelu, Penisimani Moa of Kolofo’ou also won 4G smartphones in the promotion,

Team Digicel visits Tonga communities this Christmas

Team Digicel visited senior citizens aged between 85 to 90 plus years across Tongatapu Thursday in an effort to spread the Christmas spirit.

The team delivered a hamper basket containing all the essentials.

The activity is a way of giving back to the community and especially customers who have stayed with Digicel since its inception in the market 10 years ago.

Corporate Social Responsibility is a key element of Digicel’s business and one that allows the company and staff to partner with external stakeholders and play a role in areas that need addressing.

Digicel Tonga acknowledges staff contribution with awards

The evening marked a moment of triumph for all the staff with an incredibly challenging year as a team having survived Tropical Cyclone Gita in February.

The event was about celebrating a year that brought everyone together, a year that despite the challenges the team continued to be steadfast and even though there were constant changes, they all stuck together.

That in itself demonstrated solidarity and defined unity.

Team Tonga spreads a Ma’alahi Christmas at Mango Tree Centre

Eighty children were treated to songs, Christmas gifts and a lunch hosted by Digicel.

The Disability Centre for Kids has been supported by Digicel for a number of years and it continues to produce fruitful results in the improvement of physical and intellectual disabilities particularly for children across the Kingdom. 

Mango Tree was officially commissioned this very month in 2013 by the Government of Japan.

The Project is called “Leveraging the Development of Local Food Crops and Fisheries Value Chains for Improved Nutrition and Sustainable Food Systems in the Pacific Islands” and it is in collaboration with the Pacific Islands Private Sector Organisation (PIPSO), with a focus on Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, and Vanuatu. 

Digicel Tonga focuses on a Win-win partnership

The programme included participants from the Pacific region with a common goal to strengthen the capacity of Pacific Island Governments, farmer and private sector organisations and sub-regional institutions to develop strategies and programmes, as well as to mobilise finalising, that increase poor rural people's access to nutritious and healthy food.

It’s a Ma’alahi Christmas in Tonga

This was an effort to spread the good Christmas spirit amongst the community, especially families and children.

The Santa Parade was followed by fun games and activities with food stalls at the popular Digicel Square.

The event attracted hundreds of people and activities included bouncy castles, face painting, spin-the-wheel, colouring and dance competitions. 

The programme which started at 4pm had children on the centre stage performing dances.

Digicel’s Santa gave out goodie bags to more than 300 children.

Tae Kami Foundation receives $5000 donation from Digicel Tonga

Digicel also promoted the WOWS show night with comedian Tofinga last week as well as a $1000 pledge and two nominees for the ‘Shave or Save’ campaign.

The Tae Kami Foundation was established by Sina and Taholo  Kami to fulfill their late daughter Tae Kami’s dream of setting up an organisation that helps children diagnosed with cancer.

The organisation is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year.

Sina Kami thanked Digicel Tonga for its tremendous support throughout the last ten years.
