Swimmer Neolani Day receives support from Digicel Tonga

Chief Executive Officer, Ben Kealy met Day, who expressed gratitude to Digicel Tonga for supporting the event for the second consecutive year.

Day said she hopes to do her best at the event as well as inspire Tongan girls and young women to participate in swimming.

Kealy said the aim is to develop swimming and encourage youth to represent Tonga.

The Apolima Strait Crossing, a 22.3km open water swim from Upolu Island to Savaii is scheduled to be held on 6 April, 2018.

Last year the Tongan team of four young swimmers including Day came first in the team relay.

5 winners in Digicel Tonga’s Valentine’s Day Promotion

The winners were presented their vouchers last Friday.

Cyclone Gita which hit Tonga last month did not dampen spirits as the organisers went ahead with the promotion.

Digicel provides more humanitarian aid to families in cyclone-hit Tongatapu

This week, a team visited Maamaloa Side School, Tonga Side School, St. Francis Catholic School, GPS Nuku’alofa and GPS Fasi in the central area of Tongatapu. 

School stationery and bottled Fiji Water were supplied to all five schools.

The Digicel team visited 34 homes of children with special needs from the Mango Tree Centre and provided them with food boxes and water today. 

Some homes have been completely destroyed and the occupants were given tents and relief aid to assist them. 

Digicel Tonga restores 98% network

Digicel Tonga CEO, Ben Kealy said “We have total coverage back-on-air in the main Tongatapu and we are pleased to report that we have network coverage for 98% of the population. Our technical engineers are now working round the clock to restore the last site on Eua Island and also repair a few sites which currently only have 3G network available (4G being worked on). We should have total coverage by the end of this week.”

Currently there is full connectivity in Vava’u and Ha’apai and work to restore all services in Tongatapu is ongoing at pace.
