Digicel Tonga out to give back to the community this festive season

Part of the initiative is that, the company promises to make it a memorable festive season for people of Tonga.

Digicel Tonga Management and Staff visited homes of 60 children with special needs across Tongatapu and delivered Christmas gifts to their door steps.

In the true spirit of Christmas, each child was gifted with a small gesture to light up their faces this Christmas. 

The first home visited was to Malia Timote, 11 year old girl of Ha’alalo who is looked after by her 12 year old sister and her younger brother is 8 years old.

Digicel Tonga invests $1.5m on upgrades for 4G+

Digicel Tonga has invested in the upgrade of ten additional sites this year across the country with 4G+ coverage. This upgrade underpins Digicel’s commitment to improving its communications services to the people of Tonga. 

Anthony Seuseu, Digicel Tonga CEO said: “The total investment of $1.5m this year is an indication of our efforts to ensure connectivity for our customers is a priority.  Our aim is to make things simple for our customers, provide them with the best customer service and allow them to live their best lives in a digital world.” 

Digicel Tonga supports Breast Cancer Pink Fun Run

Digicel has provided merchandise as prizes for the event, which will be held on Saturday.

The items were presented by Digicel Tonga Chief Executive Officer, Anthony Seuseu to Tonga Breast Cancer Society’s President, Frederica ‘o Lapaha Filipe.

Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer in Tonga.

Vaiola Hospital sees 40 new breast cancer patients each year, but very few cases are detected early enough, before the cancer has spread to other parts of the body.

Digicel Tonga’s RWC Schools Cheering Competition a huge success

The campaign was aimed at driving social media engagement and creating hype around the support for the National Rugby Team, Ikale Tahi.

Schools designed their own cheers and this was posted on Digicel Tonga's Facebook page encouraging followers to comment on the school they felt had the best cheer. 

A digital vote that had a reach of 68,219 with 7,468 reactions of likes, comments and shares.

The engagement penetration was at 55.14% as of last week. 

Twenty-three Digicel Top-Up stores rewarded

Anthony Seuseu, Digicel Tonga CEO said; “We congratulate each and every Top up store that is a winner from this promotion and extend our appreciation for the continued partnership to increasing Digicel’s footprint in the market.” 

The Reseller Promotion was launched on 1 May and ran for three months. 

Digicel also launched its second Rewards Program at the official Awards Ceremony held at the Emerald Restaurant on Vuna Road last night. 

Digicel Tonga introduces new CEO Anthony Seuseu

Seuseu was recently the Head of Sales and Marketing at Digital Island, a company 100 per cent Sparks owned, based in Auckland, New Zealand.  He is passionate about people and getting the best results for them. He believes that a leader leads from the front and the best way to show this is through your actions. 

Prior to joining Digital Island in 2014, Seuseu also worked for Orcon and Vodafone NZ.  He was also a former professional sportsman and played in France, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.   

Digicel Tonga supports Miss Galaxy 2019

The theme for this year’s event is ‘Fragrances of Different Communities.’ 

The pageant is celebrating its 26th anniversary and as is in the past, it has drawn hundreds of spectators and fans to various theme nights.

The aim of the organisers is to provide a platform to create awareness around gender diversity.

The Marketing Manager for Digicel Tonga, Ragigia Dawai has been invited to be Chief Auditor for two Pageant nights.

The first evening held on Wednesday, 16 July consisted of three categories – red, condom creation and own talent.

Keleni Pasikala wins cash in Digicel Top Up & Win promotion

Pasikala is a loyal Digicel customer and has been with the network for years, mostly using mobile internet and Digicel Play TV.

She was excited when she heard that she won $2500 cash but at the same time she did not believe it, as she has thought it was a prank.

“The moment I got into the Digicel head office and confirmed that I won $2500 cash in the Top Up & Win promotion, my heart was beating faster than usual.

Pasikala said she will use part of the money as her family’s contribution during the Free Wesleyan Church Conference.  

Tonga's Got Talent competition off to a good start

Performances included fire-dancing, hip-hop dancing, singing and dancing.

In the children’s category, Triple Matt won $300 and secured third place.

Second place went to Amelia Enoka who won $500 and Mele Tovi came in first to win $1000.

Melaia Niuafu won $300 and took out 3rd place in the adult category.

Second place went to Tolifili Hafoka who won $500 and Malia Leaaetoa won $1000 for coming in first.

Dozens of families packed the venue to watch the participants.

Digicel sponsored $1,000 cash for the winner.
